Peugeot and Citroën cars

In 1974 Peugeot bought a 30% stake in Citroën, and took over completely in 1975 after the French government gave large sums of money to the new company. Citroën was in financial trouble because too many developed new models for the radical financial resources. Some of them, especially Citroën SM and Comotor business rotary engine proved unprofitable. Another, Citroën CX and Citroën GS for example, proved very successful in the marketplace.

Parent company's venture into PSA (Peugeot Société Anonyme) group, which aims to maintain separate identities for both Peugeot and Citroën brands, while sharing engineering and technical resources. Peugeot thus briefly controlled the race valuable brand name Maserati, but disposed of it in May 1975 out of short-term financial problems.

Both Citroën enthusiasts and automotive journalists shows that the company takes innovation and talent acquisition marked decline. Citroën brand that continues to be successful in terms of sales, and now reaches more than one million units per year.
